The Aadi Krithigai Festival will be held on the 16th day of the auspicious month of Sri Pilava - {01-08-2021} Sunday and on the 17th day of the month of Audi -
{02-08-2021} Monday. We invite all devotees to attend and receive Sri Subramanian Thiruvarul.

 

Sunday - 01-08-2021 - 6:00 am --- barani Anointing Worship.
- From 7:00 am --- Darshan.
to 7:30 pm.
Monday - 02-08-2021 - 6:00 am --- Milk urn procession.
From 7:00 am --- Milk Anointing Worship.
From 12.00 noon To Evening - 4:00 pm. ---{ Kawadi procession, hook chariot pulling, saddle, procession, lemon piercing,Road roller procession,Yellow
demolition,Kneading flour, saddle puja
6:00 pm --- Sri Vallideyvanai Sametha Sri Sivasubramaniyar Veedi Ula will be held.

Why we celebrate Aadi Kiruthigai Festivel ...


Karthigai natchathiram of the tamil month of Aadi is dedicated to lord Muruga-Karthikeya-Subramanya,son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi Devi.

 

The events of Lord Muruga,s birthday is elaborated in the Skanda Purana,where is said that Lord Shiva created Muruga from his Third eye in the form of six flames.These flames in the form of babies were raised by six celestial nymphs or maidens known as "Karthigai Pengal"at Saravana Poikai.Lord Murugan was merged into one from these six children by Goddess Parvathi.

 

As reward for their selfless service,the divine duo-Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi blessed the Karthigai Pengal with immortality.Also Worshipping them will be seen as worshipping Lord Murugan himself.Thus ,by honouring Karthigai Star one is honouring Lord Karthikeya as well.

 

Special Poojas and abhishekams are held at all Lord Murugan Temple on the day of Aadi Karthigai.Elaborate functions and special Poojas are conducted at Palani,Swamimalai,Thiruttani,Thiriparangundram,Thiruchendur,and Palamuthircholai.These six templs,called Aaru Padai Veedu is considered the abode of Lord Murugan.
